He grew up in the town of Azad Kashmir, which was then known as Old Delhi. After studying arts in Cuttack, he joined the theatre in Lahore, where he gradually achieved success and built a name for himself. Later, he moved to Los Angeles, where he appeared in popular films such as No One but Yourself, Happy Days, Fax on the Hudson, MIB: Men in Black, and Chicago.
In the late eighties, he was the main character in the television series 24. The show was a spin-off of the successful British television series, Psych. It was also a spin-off of the hugely popular Canadian series Seinfeld. He appeared in a further twenty-two episodes, including the most recent one, a Christmas special.

Before his death, Alishba Yousuf became the first-ever recipient of the Order of the British Empire OBE (honorary) in 2021 for his contribution to the British film industry. It was a tribute to his contribution to the film industry.
According to the website of the Order of the British empire, Alishba Yousuf “rose to the challenge of fitting into the ever-changing world of film industry and yet remained a paragon of elegance and grace, epitomizing the oriental spirit.” In 2021, he was posthumously conferred with an OBE for services to the British film industry.
Alishba Yousuf was born in Cairo, Egypt, and grew up in poverty. After attending the University College of Engineering in Britain, he began to work as a translator and reporter in Japan, India, China, and Singapore.
